THIS IS AN ADVANCE NEWSLETTER – IT IS BEING SENT MORE THAN A WEEK IN ADVANCE OF OUR MEETING –
TO ALERT YOU ABOUT NEAR TERM ACTIVITY!!!!
(Please phone your brothers concerning these items, especially those whom you know do not have email.  I will
attempt to get a newsletter in the mail no later than Saturday)

Report on the Sick
Bishop Hart continues his rehabilitation at his residence at St Patrick’s in Norwich.  He has begun a special therapy
this week; let us pray that it helps to restore his strength and vigor which we have all admired.  I assured him of our
prayers and concern for his condition.  His appetite is starting to improve, and he sends his appreciation for all our
concerns.  He is still rather weak so there is no planned visit for the present.

Please also remember in your prayers brothers John Hanrahan, Paul McDonough, and Tim Keating.  John has had
knee surgery, and hopes to be home by Friday, September 28. to continue his rehabilitation period.  Details on Paul’
s ailments are not available at this writing, but apparently he has had some serious health issues.  Tim is back to
work after extensive rehab to remedy a series of broken bones incurred from an accident at work.

Golf Tourney
Our annual golf tourney will be held on October 8.  Please contact Fran De Peter if you wish to participate or if you
can provide a sponsor or gift for participants.  Fran’s flyer for this event is at the bottom of this message.  This event
has been the primary fund raising event for our division since its inception under our renowned past president, Bob
Butler.

Shamrock Degree Program
The next monthly meeting will be held on Sunday, October 28 at St. Agnes Church hall in Niantic. at 2PM.  Please
note the change in venue and change in time of the month.  The primary focus of this meeting is the Shamrock
degree ceremony.  We will induct several new members, and invite all members who have not participated in a
Shamrock degree program to do so at this time.  Participation will be officially recorded at the National Headquarters
and be reflected on all your future membership cards.  Each participant will receive a folder of official documents
containing information concerning the history of the Hibernians, the meaning of our motto, and an official recognition
of his participation.

This is the first time in over twenty years that we have held such a ceremony in our division.  It is being presented in
memory of our recently departed brothers, and especially in memory of Ed Fitzgerald and Jack Linicus who were
prominently involved in such activity in the early years of our division.  We encourage all brothers to participate in
the meeting, and share with those brothers taking the degree for the first time.

Sandwiches, soda bread, coffee and tea will be served after the ceremony.  Please make every effort to attend.  If
you need a ride to and/or from the meeting please call me at 443-2058.  If I am not home leave a message and I will
contact you as soon thereafter as possible.
